Dr. Vijayakumar Somasing Nayak is the Ayurvedic surgeon and consultant, proprietor of Sri. Bhavani Multispecialty Hospital, Muddebihal, Vijayapur District, and operates the satellite center Sri Bhavani Clinic at Nidagundi, Vijayapur District, Karnataka. Dr. Nayak’s has been trained under the renowned Ayurvedic Proctologist Dr. M D P Raja sir of Hitam Ayurvedic Anorectal Institute and affiliated since 2020. To enhance his skills, Dr. Nayak participated in the Faculty Development Programme of Advanced Laser Proctology at the School of Ayurveda, D Y Patil University, Navi Mumbai, and completed a Certificate Course on KsharaSutra from Parul University, Vadodara, Gujarat. Additionally, his academic qualifications were enhanced through participation in a Certificate Course on Ayusastra, conducted at SASTRA, AVP Research Foundation in Tamil Nadu, during the year 2016.
Dr. Nayak has been offering medical care to people in Muddebihal and nearby areas since 2008. He shows his commitment to community health by setting up free health and medical camps across the district. Throughout his career, Dr. Nayak has focused on improving Ayurvedic medical education and practice, aiming for high standards in both teaching and patient care. In 2023, his hard work and enthusiasm were acknowledged when he received the Health Care Excellence Award from Asianet Suvarna News and Kannada Prabha.
In addition to his healthcare services, Dr. Nayak is a distinguished Associate Professor at BVVS Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital in Bagalkot, Karnataka, in the Ayurvedic medicine and surgery domain. His expertise encompasses various branches, with notable contributions through research, education, and capacity building. Dr. Nayak's scholarly work has been published in national and international journals, and he has supervised numerous master's students in Ayurveda.
Throughout his academic career, Dr. Nayak has assumed various positions, including guest lecturer, Assistant Professor, and Associate Professor. He provided mentorship to numerous undergraduate and postgraduate students. His expertise has been acknowledged by institutions such as Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, KLE University, and West Bengal Health University, where he has served as an external examiner. Dr. Nayak actively participated in organizing and attending conferences and workshops, particularly in the fields of Shalakya Tantra and Proctology. Furthermore, he has been the recipient of multiple academic honors, such as the Best Paper Presentation Award (2015) in the First International Conference at KLE University, Belagavi, Karnataka.
Dr. Nayak's academic credentials include a Ph.D (Ayu) from CARI, CCRAS, Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, Bhubaneswar (Orissa). He holds an M.S. in Shalakya Tantra from Shri Vijay Mahantesh Ayurvedic Medical College, Ilkal (Karnataka), and a Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) from KLE's B M K Ayurvedic Mahavidyalaya, Belgaum (Karnataka).
